Dynamic lighting and vision make a scene feel real, but they can leave the other players looking at darkness or another room while the GM describes what one character sees. GS: Spectator lets players spectate each other's tokens, and NPCs when the GM allows it, to see the scene with that token's vision, lighting and fog. With the party strip and a few simple controls, nobody has to miss a scene, whichever broom cupboard their own character is hiding in.
Features
Spectate with true vision. Spectating a token switches off sight from your own tokens, so you see only through the eyes of the token you are spectating. Roofs above your spectated target fade so you can see inside, and the camera follows them as they move through the map.
Management menu. A Gamemaster control menu lists the tokens placed on the current scene. The buttons next to each token allow the GM to focus the token, add or remove it as a party member, and set whether players may spectate it.
Party strip. A moveable strip shows the current party members you may spectate: click one to spectate, click it again to stop. The strip also shows the return timer and an "auto" toggle that spectates each combatant on their turn.
Return timer. Pan away while spectating and the camera waits before going back to the token ("Return timer:", 15 seconds by default). Click the return timer bar or press Space to pause it, and players can click the timer count to change it according to personal preference.
Focus. The GM's focus button makes every player spectate a token for a set time (set at 5 seconds by default). When set to 0 the button becomes a toggle.
Viewport director. The viewport director is opened by clicking the camera button in the management menu. While open and live, it frames part of the map and shows that exact view as if the frame was the player's monitor POV. GM vision, Ghost vision and the floor buttons allow for further management of how and what they see.
Using it
Press Shift+V to open or close the management menu. The GM can also click the eye in the token controls; for players, that eye shows or hides the party strip.
As the GM, click the party button on a row to add that character to the party. The party strip then shows each player the party members they may spectate.
To spectate, click a row in the management menu or a portrait on the party strip, or press V with a token selected or if you also have our GS: QoL Module you can simply right-click a token and choose the Spectate option.
Press Esc to stop. If the return timer is running, the first press ends it and brings the camera back.
